A good beard requires effort - but a little work gives you great results – if you follow a few simple rules.

Number one: scrub your beard well every time you wash your face. I mean, scrub all the way down to the skin. It’s a whole new ecosystem under those whiskers. For one thing, you’re not exfoliating any more since you’re not shaving. Say what? I don’t exfoliate - I’m not that kind of guy! Whether you realize it or not, you were exfoliating. Dragging that razor over your skin is removing dead skin cells, letting new skin shine through. When you stop shaving, you’re losing that. What happens if you don’t scrub well? Dead skin cells hang out under that new hair. This can cause dandruff, breakouts, and hinders hair follicles from producing healthy hair.

Number two: use beard oil. Not just sometimes, but every single time you wash your face/scrub your beard. Washing strips natural oils from your hair. Whiskers are inherently thicker than the hair on your head, so they need all the help they can get. Just like you condition your hair after shampooing, you need to condition your beard. Us Soap and Body beard oil is made up of eight different carrier oils – each one selected for its’ specific properties. Four of these oils target your skin and hair follicles. Remember that new ecosystem and scrubbing all the way down? Now our beard oil can get down to business by getting down to healthy skin. These four oils help minimize breakouts, reduce or eliminate dandruff, and provide nutrients to your skin and hair follicle for healthy hair. Hair is dead as soon as it leaves the follicle – it needs all the help it can get – as soon as possible! You should start using beard oil 10-14 days after you stop shaving. For you really hairy guys, go ahead and start it at day seven. Once we’ve taken care of your skin and hair follicle, we’re going to help that dead hair be all it can be! The other four oils in our recipe are chosen to benefit the hair itself. We’re replenishing and adding conditioning oils to make and keep that hair as soft as possible! The oils also provide protection against the elements – it’s a dirty harsh world out there – our oil minimizes bad stuff that happens throughout the day.

Number three: stroke your beard. Invest in a decent boar’s hair brush. After you’ve showered and before you apply the beard oil, take some time to brush your beard. While you’re watching tv, stroke your whiskers. It’s beneficial to your beard and it’s therapeutic. Ever seen a dog or cat turn down getting stroked or brushed? Brushing brings your natural oils down into the hair. You don’t need to do this every single time you wash, but a couple times a week at least. Make it a fun treat for yourself. Women have their facials and all that other stuff, this is our chance for some special “me” time.

We talked about our eight oils – here they are: Argan, Avocado, Castor, Grape Seed, Hemp, Olive, Sweet Almond, and Wheat Germ. This formulation gives your whiskers everything they need to be happy, healthy, and handsome!

Now you’re looking good, how about we make you smell good too? Choose one of Us Soap and Body’s rich scents to complete your beard routine. All scents come in beard oil, beard balm, and a roller cologne (a little dab lower on your body completes the scent scene). Essential oils combine with your natural pheromones, producing a one-of-a-kind scent. Literally no one else on earth will smell exactly like you when you wear an all-natural essential oil combination. Currently we offer four choices:

  • Tranquil – a spa-like scent experience combining lavender, rosemary, frankincense, and peppermint. Wonderful any time day or night, it’s very nice if you’re washing your beard at night (remember: use beard oil every time you wash). These all-natural essential oils not only smell good, but have calming and healing properties (not evaluated by the FDA – we have to say that).

  • Morning Woods – all puns intended. Cedar Wood, Australian Sandal Wood, Ho Wood, Pine Scotch, Pink Grapefruit (and a whisper of Patchouli) put a little pep in your step first thing in the morning. Citrus is invigorating while the combination of our wood selections is earthy and masculine.

  • Southern Woods - Copaiba Balsam, Australian Sandal Wood, Cajeput, Black Spruce, and Patchouli combine into a fresh, earthy fragrance which is a little lighter in overall tone due to the Balsam. Reminiscent of pencil shavings or a wood shop.

  • Woods – Cedar Wood, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. How much more earthy, masculine, and pure can you get? ‘Nuff said.

Now your beard is getting long and luxurious, it’s starting to have a mind of its own! Like an unruly teenager, you need to lay down the law and show it you’re the boss! Our beard balm is just what you need to put your unruly whiskers in time out.

We use the perfect blend of Shea Butter, Beeswax, Sweet Almond oil, Jojoba oil, Argan oil, Wheat Germ oil, and Castor oil to provide not only a nice hold, but also to add additional conditioning and shine. A little dab, rub your hands together to liquify it, and stroke your hands over the top of your beard. You can use your hands, a comb, or a brush to achieve your desired look. But remember: don’t work balm down to the skin. Remember all the good stuff we did for your skin and hair follicles? The beeswax will suffocate skin and clog your follicles!
